Changes to the Federal Judicial Clerkship Hiring Process for 2014

The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts recently announced that it would be moving the Federal Law Clerk Hiring Plan application release date from August 19th to June 28th at noon this year.  Most federal judges will begin reviewing applications and scheduling interviews on that date and many will likely hire shortly after that date.  Moreover, many federal judges who are not following the Hiring Plan have already begun accepting applications for 2014 clerkships.  As a result, if you are a 2L/3L Evening Student interested in the possibility of applying for federal judicial clerkships for after you graduate next year, you must begin thinking about the clerkship application process ASAP.  Similarly, if you are a 3L/4L Evening Student interested in a federal clerkship for 2014, you should begin sending out applications to judges ASAP.  Messaging with instructions about internal WCL procedures for federal clerkship applications went out to students last week.  If you did not receive these messages or have questions about the process, please contact Kira Epstein, the Judicial Clerkship Advisor in the Office of Career & Professional Development.
