Seeking American Health Care Association (AHCA) Legal Interns (Summer and Fall Terms): AHCA is the nation’s leading long term and post-acute care organization. AHCA and its membership of over 12,000 non-profit and proprietary centers are dedicated to continuous improvement in the delivery of professional and compassionate care. Dedicated center employees provide care to more than 1.5 million of our nation’s frail, elderly and disabled citizens who live in nursing centers, assisted living communities, subacute centers and centers for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. AHCA’s mission, in collaboration with its membership, is to improve lives by delivering solutions for quality care.

Intern Responsibilities include working with the AHCA, Vice President, of Legal Affairs to assist with a variety of legal tasks including: review of Association contracts; synthesize relevant case law and regulation; plan/prepare for AHCA Legal Committee conference calls and meetings; research and draft written materials in key areas (e.g., integrity, professional liability, managed care, etc.); and update current Association legal webpages.

International Policy Intern

1L, 1LE, 2L, 2LE, 3LE, 4LE

Support the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) International Policy Department in the administration and implementation of ANSI’s international projects and development programs. This primarily includes assisting with the planning of meetings and workshops, drafting reports and agendas, and liaising with ANSI’s members and counterparts in the U.S. and internationally. The position will also interface occasionally with regional organizations and their national member bodies, to prepare and enable ANSI staff and members to represent the interests of the U.S. voluntary standardization community in these fora.

Desired Skills:

Junior year or higher course work at an accredited university in international relations, international business, economics, or other related discipline.
Work experience in a related field (for example, summer jobs, internships, volunteer work, etc.).
Desire to learn about standards and trade-related issues.
Desire to learn and gain experience in planning, coordinating, and performing projects.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to develop and implement successful approaches to problem solving and conflict resolution.
