The Office of the General Counsel is seeking an entry level attorney to join the Office of the Assistant General Counsel for Legislation and Regulation (OGC/L&R) in its Regulatory Division.
The Regulatory Division is primarily responsible for the review and clearance of all regulations and significant guidance documents issued by the Department, but attorneys are involved in the full portfolio of issues the Department of Commerce oversees, including fisheries and marine management (under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, Endangered Species Act, and Marine Mammal Protection Act), export controls, patents and trademarks, international trade, standards and technology, and information policy. Attorneys serve as the Departments administrative legal experts, and routinely advise senior officials in the Department in that capacity. In addition, attorneys advocate on the Departments behalf with OMB and other Cabinet-level Agencies.
