The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), within the U.S. Department of Commerce Office of General Counsel, is uniquely tasked with providing technical assistance in the commercial law arena to foreign governments and private sectors of transitional countries in support of their economic development goals.
CLDP provides law clerks interested in international development and trade the opportunity to work both independently and as a part of a team in the design, development, and implementation of technical assistance programs for developing and transitional countries, including the Maghreb, the Gulf, some countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and Eastern Europe. Law clerks participate at all levels, contributing to work plans, developing subject background papers, designing agendas, planning activities and assisting foreign delegations during programs.
